MSI GT80: The future of mobile gaming?!

Have you ever dreamed of a laptop that you could easily upgrade or easily swap out parts you don’t care for?! Well then this is for you, the MSI GT80 Titan!

So, what exactly is the Titan? Well it is one of the most interesting beasts I’ve personally seen in a long time. A laptop sporting a full mechanical keyboard, running two GTX 980M in sli, an I7 processor and up to 32GB of RAM, all with you having the ability to upgrade parts just by sliding off a panel (just like a desktop!).  The innovation that this beast presents is great for the future of mobile computing. Unfortunately the titan itself isn’t the most portable machine, it’s bulky and is heavier than what you may want to carry around, but it is still portable. Coming in at just over $3000.00 it will most likely be over most people’s price point but I suspect it is for a very specific crowd.

But what does this machine mean for the future? Well technology has been advancing at an alarming rate, I bet 10 years ago only a select number of people would have guessed we would have a machine like this today, not to mention the power its packing! So imagine in another 10 years, a machine with this much capabilities could be down to the size of a regular laptop, granted we will probably still need additional room for the mechanical keyboard.

I am personally excited for what future of technology holds, it’s been a passion of mine for years now. Everytime there’s such an innovative product like this or a huge advancement in the technological world I end up squealing like a little kid! Let me know what you think about this beast and how you envision the tech world looking in 10 to 15.

As you have probably already guessed, I’m a PC enthusiast. I built my first computer a few years back, at the time I was so excited to be joining the “PC Master race”. Playing all the newest games on high or ultra at 60 FPS on 1080P was the dream, although at the time I wasn't completely aware at how unnecessarily demanding some games could be, after all I was basically a computer noob.

Now I wish for a more portable build, hence the mini ATX form factor.

I go for the I5-4690K since its slightly faster than the 4670 and almost the same price, it may not have hyper threading like the 3770k in my current build but for gaming, web browsing and watching movies, it can even be considered over kill for what intend to use it for.

The motherboard I opted for is still up for debate, I may go with the Z97 version of it even though I have no plans for overclocking or using a GPU in SLI. I hear the build quality on the Z97 platform may be better than the H97 version.

For what I will be using it for, 8GB of ram will be more than enough, if I run into any problems I can easily stick another stick of ram in to make it 16GB. For now I go with 8 due to the insane prices that RAM is currently going for.

I opted for an additional 1TB HDD, I already have a 500GB HDD from my laptop that no longer works, it has Windows 8 already installed on it so it saves me money from buying an OS key.

The GTX 960 is a pretty good mid-range GPU, which is why I went for it. I don’t need anything overly powerful for this build, the TV in my room is only 720P unfortunately so the 960 should kill at what I’ll be using it for.

The BitFenix prodigy case is one I’ve wanted for a while now, it’s nice & small which is what I want in a case! In orange of course because it looks really sexy in that color. 

Finally I opted for a small 550W PSU since that’s about all I need.

Now I won’t be getting rid of my current rig or anything, but I started sharing it with people in my household so I don’t get as much time to use it. The next build I make will be more portable to go in my room & use it as something I can bring over to my friends’ houses when I get together with them! 

What is going on with Sony?!

Sony, once one of my favorite brand due to their PlayStation division. When I was younger, the first console I ever received was the PS One of course that was succeeded by the PlayStation 2. Unfortunately I opted to get the Xbox 360 instead of the PlayStation 3, but this time around I plan on getting the PlayStation 4!

Over the past few years it’s been abundantly clear that Sony has been losing its ground, selling off divisions, getting hacked, Sony isn't in its prime anymore. With regards to selling off divisions, this may not be a bad thing, by cutting the fat, instead of supporting what’s bringing them down they might as well get rid of it. They've done a good job of that by selling of their Vaio computers and most recently selling their online gaming, they analysed the market and found that due to a change in the way consumers are gaming now, it was simply not profitable enough for them to continue running it.

My question? What will Sony inevitably cut lose next? Now there are still many divisions left at Sony from their TVs to their mobile, there are rumors circulating around the web right now about their TV division being sold off next, if that comes to fruition it may be safe to assume that Sony is planning on shrinking until they reach a point that they can turn around their current financial situation.

In my opinion it may be a smart idea to do so, as long as they don’t sell the PlayStation brand or any of the other divisions that are keeping it afloat.  I wouldn't mind if they sold Columbia studios, so Marvel studios could potentially gain the rights to put the Spider-man character into their movies.

One thing that would be interesting, if down the line Sony just became PlayStation, do you believe that the company would be profitable, would the PlayStation name suffer due to the other divisions under Sony being gone, or would the PlayStation go back to the glory days it enjoyed during the reign of the PlayStation 2?
